Maxima in Euler now includes the Gnu-CC compiler to compile packages of Maxima. This allows to use C packages like lapack, or compiled lisp code like physical_constants. The package lapack compiles into the home directory of the user, creating a directory „maxima“. The first call of this package will take a bit longer, of course.
