I have just tried Euler on Linux once more. I used a VirtualBox in Windows with Ubuntu for this. I do not want to install Linux. My new Vostro uses an UEFI boot, and I do not want to fiddle around with it. Moreover, booting a live system revealed lots of missing drivers.
In short, Euler worked, including Latex and Python. You still have to pass on anti-aliasing or the status-line. Moreover, the fonts will not look so nice.
Follow these instructions to use Euler Math Toolbox on Ubuntu Linux.
